Pere Arderiu
Lleida, SPAIN
Since I was a child, I have been surrounded by fruit growers and spent harvest seasons with my family. My grandfather was a fruit grower, and I used to help him with the farm work. Over the years, I trained in agricultural vocational training and, together with my father, we took over the family farm.
I grow opal® apples, a variety with its own unique character: a combination of rustic appearance and modern flavour. The climate of the Lleida plain is demanding, but that is precisely what gives opal® apples a firmness and quality that are difficult to match.
Producing them is not easy, but I defend them with conviction. It is an apple that deserves to be discovered: it may look floury, but when you taste it, everything changes.
